About the Course
The TDSC Examiner Training Programme is designed for qualified dance teachers and experienced dance professionals who are interested in developing the skills, knowledge, and professional standards required to assess TDSC examinations.
Throughout the programme, you will gain a thorough understanding of the TDSC syllabus, assessment criteria, marking system, examiner expectations, safeguarding responsibilities, equality and unconscious bias, and the professional standards expected of a TDSC examiner.
The training combines theory, discussion, and practical marking exercises using mock examinations, providing valuable insight into the examination process and the role of an examiner within a modern awarding organisation.
Whilst the programme is primarily aimed at qualified dance teachers, applications from individuals with substantial industry experience will also be considered.
Successful completion of the programme does not automatically result in appointment as a TDSC Examiner. Examiner appointments are made at the discretion of TDSC based on experience, suitability, assessment outcomes, availability, professionalism, reliability, and the operational needs of the organisation.

Hi, I'm Jo, Founder of The Dance School Company.
Dance has been at the heart of my life for over 20 years, and throughout that time I've had the privilege of teaching, mentoring, and supporting thousands of dancers and teachers.
When I founded TDSC, my goal was simple: to create a dance examination organisation that maintained high standards whilst ensuring every student felt confident, comfortable, and valued. Those same values are at the heart of our examiner training programme.
As the creator of the TDSC syllabus and assessment framework, I personally oversee examiner recruitment, training, and standardisation. During the course, I'll guide you through the expectations of the examiner role, the marking process, professional responsibilities, and the practical skills needed to assess candidates fairly and consistently.
I'm passionate about supporting experienced dance professionals as they develop their skills and confidence as potential examiners, and I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with you throughout the programme.
